Miss Foote

Miss Foote is the social studies teacher at William McKinley High School. She is portrayed by Leslie Mann.

Biography[]

In "Chokin' and Tokin'", Miss Foote is teaching about the 1960s civil rights movement in history class. Miss Foote says that Martin Luther King Jr. might have been an important figure during that time, but she questions her students to answer who actually sparked the rise of the civil rights movement. Bill Haverchuck answers the question by claiming that it was none, other than, Rosa Parks, who refused to give up her seat on a public bus. Miss Foote praises Bill for getting the answer correct.

However, Miss Foote sneezes in front of class several times, although Bill blesses her to get better and she thanks him for that. Bill also asks his favorite teacher, if he can close the window or not. Miss Foote says that there is no need, since she will be fine, as well as asking Bill if he's allergic to something. Bill replies that he is allergic to peanuts, and if he eats them, then he can die. Bill explains that he was sent to an ambulance during his trip at Summer camp before when he ate peanuts. Miss Foote is astonished by Bill's traumatic story. Alan White tells Bill to not eat peanuts, and he calls him a "dork", causing most of the students who lack empathy to laugh at Bill as a joke. Miss Foote finds Bill's story to be odd, but Bill is serious about this. Bill confesses about Neal being prone to developing psoriasis, and Sam having hemophobia, despite this not being a type of allergy, causing the other students to laugh again about the Geeks' painful experiences. The school bell rings to end history class for today.

Following the next day in history class, Miss Foote educates her students that George Washington might have had accomplishments as the revolutionary leader for American independence, and as the first president of the USA. On the other hand, Miss Foote explains that George Washington also accomplished his work with peanuts, and she jokingly says that peanuts are Bill's main weakness. The class laughs about Miss Foote's joke to Bill, because she says that Bill is allergic to peanuts. The school bell rings again, but not before Miss Foote mentioning to her students that the reading assignments and essays are due on Monday.

Being alone with Bill in class, Miss Foote asks if Bill is alright or not. Bill states that he is fine. However, Bill doesn't like the way his teacher brought up the topic about his allergies to humiliate him in front of the other students, claiming that it makes him look like a "geek". Miss Foote apologizes to Bill, and he easily approves of her apology. Miss Foote believes that Bill is not a geek, despite Bill thinking otherwise about the world viewing him as one. Miss Foote feels empathy for Bill's misery, due to his status as a social outcast at the bottom of the social hierarchy, showing that she cares about his well-being.
